Getting Started: Quick Start

This guide will break down the steps you need to take in order to get up and running with Billingbooth One.

Following your sign up to Billingbooth One, you'll have entered your organisation information, uploaded your company logo, adjusted your brand colour for use in invoices, usage statements and the customer access portal. In addition, you've optionally specified your supplier(s) if they existed in our default list of suppliers, and you've secured your account with a password.

If you need to amend any of this information already:

Basic setup

With at least one supplier selected by your account, there's only a few remaining steps in order to get a basic billing run completed.

Step 1) Setting up your customers

Why this step is important:
Everything in Billingbooth One revolves around customers, they are the quintessential backbone to the billing process.

Where to go:
Head to Customers, then Customers and in the top-right of the screen click either Create or Import.

Step 2) Applying charges against your customers

Why this step is important:
Service charges are the other side of the billing coin, you'll want to create some charges with which to bill your customers.

Where to go:
Head to Customers, then Customers and then select one of the customers from the listings and then click Charges in the top navigation menu.

Step 3) Uploading a CDR file

Why this step is important:
CDR files from your supplier are where you'll start the process of calculating your Voice, Data & SMS charges and assigning them to the applicable customers.

Where to go:
Head to Voice, Data & SMS, then Upload CDR file.

Step 4) Performing a billing run

Why this step is important:
The billing run is how invoices against your customers are generated. At this juncture, you can bill all your customers in the Default customer group or specific customers.

Where to go:
Click the Billing Runs icon at the top-right of the screen, then Start New Run.

Additional steps

At this point, you're ready to complete very basic billing runs, which might be all you need. However, larger organisations might require a slightly more robust setup process.

Caller Line Identifiers (CLIs)

Why this step is useful:
The way Billingbooth One identifies your matches CDR and/or service file line items to your customers, is via the CLIs featured on those files. Adding respective CLIs to your customers ensures the correct customer gets matched.

Where to go:
To add singular CLIs to a customer, head to Customers, then Customers and then select one of the customers from the listings. Following that, click Configuration in the top navigation menu and then Caller Line Identifiers.

To bulk add CLIs across customers, head to Voice, Data & SMS and click Caller Line Identifiers.

Customer Groups

Why this step is useful:
By default, all your customers are placed into one singular customer group which you then bill. Creating additional customer groups allows you to assign customers to those groups and bill them independently.

Where to go:
Head to Customers, then Groups.

Categories

Why this step is useful:
When you create your account, Billingbooth One creates Cloud, Data, Mobile and Voice categories for you automatically. You may wish to adjust these to suit your needs or add additional categories to the mix.

Where to go:
Head to Products, then Categories.

Tariffs

Why this step is useful:
Customers can be optionally assigned to a specific tariff for each category. You can think of tariffs in Billingbooth One like "pricing categories", for example, some of your Data customers may be on a 24 Month tariff, whilst others may be on a 12 Month tariff. Allowing you to specify different pricing based on tariff when creating data related products later on.

Where to go:
Head to Products, then Tariffs.

Products

Why this step is useful:
Think of products as a template for a service charge. With this you can specify tariff and customer specific pricing for the product. You're then able to select the product when creating a charge against a customer to speed the process up, or use it to match against Service File line items.

Where to go:
Head to Products, then Products.

Destinations

Why this step is useful:
In this step, you'll tell Billingbooth One how to handle Voice, Data & SMS costs from your supplier(s) to you as well as which destinations you need to single out for markup, bundle or commission purposes.

Where to go:
Head to Voice, Data & SMS, then either Voice, Data, or SMS, depending on which type of destinations you wish to setup.

Price Adjustments

Why this step is useful:
With the costs worked out in the previous step, now you're able to add your markup to your Voice, Data & SMS destinations via the creation of price adjustments.

Where to go:
Head to Voice, Data & SMS, then either Voice, Data, or SMS, depending on which type of destinations you wish to setup.
